The
Morning 5

My kids hear a hundred things before 8am. I wanted to be sure about the first five.

The part that matters

It isn't the card. It's the two minutes after it.

Every card has three questions on the back, in this order. A child who only says the words forgets them by lunch. A child who answers these carries them.

First — Notice
“What’s one thing that feels a little scary right now?”
Starts in their own life, not in the idea. Nobody begins by failing.
Then — Connect
“The Psalm says when I am afraid — not if. So is it okay to feel scared?”
Where the verse stops being words and starts being about them.
Last — Live it
“What’s one brave thing you could do today?”
Belief a child acts on is belief a child keeps.

The cards came from a tape.

I made Rise & Shine With God for my own kids — a song, eleven affirmations, and a prayer. It’s three tracks, because some mornings you have the whole drive and some mornings you don’t.
